Outdoor Winter Workout Essentials

Working out in the winter does not mean you need to stay inside! If your anything like me, a lot of your fitness regime is ruled by nature itself. Here are a few tips to keep you winter ready and active outside.

Trainers

If your anything like me then a lot of your running takes place off road. Commonly known as trail running, the key here is grip. Make sure you invest in a good pair of off-road running shoes so that you don’t find the slippery or uneven surface has you injured and not training at all.

Training Tights

They keep in the warmth whilst stopping chaffing. Certain pairs have great compression abilities which reduce muscle soreness post workout also. As it gets darker outside, investing in a good pair with reflective material or reflective elements is beneficial.

Technical Top/Training Jacket

Opting for long sleeve technical top during the winter is recommended. These types of top wick the sweat from you and keep in warmth. Perfect as a base layer. A lightweight training jacket will also keep you warmer whilst not weighing you down.

Training Gloves

If I’m planning on using anything that requires grip, I generally opt for my bare hands, but if your on a winter run, a pair of training gloves never go a miss. Just to remove the sheer uncomfortable feeling of cripplingly cold hands.

Rat-Rag

I always find that covering your neck area keeps you warmer. Imagine a scarf that is sweat wicking and can be used in all manner of ways to keep your head, face and neck warm. Very handy piece of gear.

The key thing to remember is that you don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds to get great gear! Great websites like myprotein.com have great equipment for low prices. Get your gear and get out there even though it’s winter!
